When presentng two animals of dissimilar size like this, the challenge becomes one of giving each more or less the same prominence. I needed something to bring the lizard up at least as high cat's head, but I couldn't use the chair arm; that would throw the symmetry way off. The addition of the blue pillow solved that problem, as well as introducing a healthy amount of blue in the picture that offset the chocolate brown of the upholstery.
